Ventilation System
Oval SS Intake and Oval SS Vortex Ventilation are newly developped for further quietness maintaining high ventilation performance. Shape designed more smart and simple keeping former image was created by wind tunnel experiment and riding test. Its excellent ventilation performance is one of main factors for "comfort", concept of Z-5.
3D MAX-DRY SYSTEM
3D FULL SUPPORT INNER III, accomplished interior system with proper hold and soft fit, progressed further in X-5. For interior material, meshed fabric of high moisture absorption/exhaust HYGRA(R) favored for FD series of summer interiors is applied. HYGRA(R), moisture absorption/exhaust fiber, is made of special water absorption polymer absorbing water of 15 times weight more than itself and nylon wrapping the polymer. Compared with conventional nylon, its moisture absorption/exhaust performance is 2 time and absorption/exhaust speed is 1.5 times. For better ventilation, meshed fabric of HYGRA is applied for Z-5. *HYGRA(R) is registered trade mark of UNITIKA Co., Ltd. SHOEI'S own Q.R.I.P. system is applied to fixing interiors for easy handling and correspondance to "Emergency Concept" for third party to be able to put off helmet in accident.
Lower Air Intake/ Breath Control System
Lower air intake made of punching metal is applied same as former model to chin guard, essential point of Z-5's shape. Breath Control System which works for absorption of fresh riding wind and exhaust of hot air around mouth is applied inside chin guard same as former model.
Lightweight and Compact
light weight and compactness of helmet are contradictory each other for impact absorption performance. However, they contribute to improvement of aerodynamics and restraint of inertia energy in accident to restrain impact energy as well as restraining fatigue of rider. In order to realize light weight and compactness maintaining high protection performance, high technology for shell molding is essential. SHOEI is manufacturing high performance shell in-house under strict control using its own shell molding technology, AIM (Advanced Integrated matrix) Shell of Z-5 is made from SHOEI's belief for safety and prenty of know-how and technologies.

Q.R.S.B.+CX-1 Shield System

SHOEI's own Q.R.S.B. and CX-1 Built-in Mechanical Shield system is favored in race scenes of top categories. Shield can be removed easily by pulling trigger keeping shield fully opened. Its fixing is also easy and can be checked by eyes. Mechanical portion of CX-1 is integrated with inside of shield and realizes flush surface shape when equipped. Shield made of high strength polycarbonate is molded in high molding technology and secures clear vision with minimum distortion.

Aero Chin Curtain (Optional)
Aero Chin Curtain designed by SHOEI's aerodynamic technology with its own identical shape of spoiler controls air turbulence and blocks rolling-in of uncomfortable wind from bottom of chin guard. Expiration is exhausted through slit in front portion utilizing negative pressure to always circulate fresh air inside chin guard preventing blockade of moisture.
