Please tell me difference between CX-1 and CX-1V which is used for X-Eleven, MULTITEC, etc.
CX-1V is wider than CX-1. Therefore, they are not interchangeable. And also, shield base of left side equipped with pre-set lever differs between CX-1 and CX-1V.
Please advise darkness of shield.
Degree of darkness is as below.
![]()
Each shield has its own color variations. Please do not use smoke shield (Mellow Smoke, Smoke, Dark Smoke and HT) in the night because your view is disturbed. Please refrain from using mirror shield in the night either because its light transmittance ratio is almost same as that of dark smoke shield, lower (darker) than that of original shield.
Is shield anti-UV treated?
SHOEI uses UV absorption agent added polycarbonate for all shields such as CX-1, CX-1V, CJ-1 and CF-6. These shields cut most of UV rays except old type shield made of materials other than polycarbonate.
Please see graph below. This graph shows light transmittance ratio of SHOEI’s shields. Horizontal axis and vertical axis indicate wave length of rays and light transmittance ratio respectively. Rays of wave length more than 400 nanometers are visible rays while those of wave length less than 400 are UV rays. Up to 380 nanometers, light transmittance ratio is 0%. This means that UV rays are cut almost 100%. Between 380 nanometers and 400 nanometers transmittance ratio is increased substantially. Light transmittance ratio of SHOEI’s shields are more than 85% for clear, about 71% for soft smoke and 37% for smoke (light smoke). Lines of graph go up to those values. While rays of wave length below 400 nanometers are UV rays, a slight portion of UV rays are transmitted as indicated in a shaded portion. Therefore, SHOEI indicates UV cut ratio of shield in values less than 100%. We are sometimes asked whether UV cut ratio is changed by smoke or mirror processing. Although ratio is changes a little as shown in shaded portion, it is almost nothing compared with whole UV rays.

There is a gap even if shield is closed.
Shield setting might have been deviated during your use. You can adjust to eliminate gap.
Referring to manual of shield (CX-1,CX-1V,CF-1,CF-1V)
Please advise how to fix and remove CX-1 and CX-1V shields.
Please refer to manual of shield.
CF-1V shield, optional shield for X-Eleven, indicates "2-Dimensional Curved Surface, Tear-off Film Fixable." What is 2 dimensional curved surface? Is it different from CX-1V?
CX-1V, a shield standard equipped to X-Eleven, has 3 dimensional curved surface, curved top and bottom, and left and right. On the other hand, CF-1V shield is flat top and bottom and curved left and right only so that "tear-off film" which is used in races can be fixed properly. And also, buttons are placed in left and rights sides of CF-1V to fix tear-off film. Replacement of CF-1V requires fine adjustment of shield. Please fix it properly referring to manual.
Is price of Optional ventilation for 1 set of left and right?
Yes, it is. They are sold as a set of left and right.
May I change ventilation of my helmet to that of other model?
No, you cannot because locations of screw holes are different.
Can X-Eleven QD interiors be used for other X-Eleven or other models?
They can be used for X-Eleven and X-9 only.
Please advise how to clean interiors.
If your helmet is with fully removable interiors, please remove all interiors and wash by hand or in washing machine putting them in washing net.
One piece of cheek pad is lost. Can I buy one piece alone?
Cheek pad is sold as a set of left and right. It cannot be sold as one piece only.
I like to replace interior pad. Catalogue shows "hard" and "soft". How do they differ?
Hardness of polyurethane foam differs between "hard" and "soft". When repulsion of "hard" is considered as 100%, that of "soft" is about 90%. If you like to change touch not changing thickness, please use it. However, feeling differs individually. As for thickness, for example, thickness of 35 mm "hard" and 35mm "soft" is same. Please decide whether to change thickness or hardness depending upon how much you like to adjust.
What is "Aero Chin Curtain", optional part of Z-5?
"Aero Chin Curtain" is a component to be fixed below chin portion of helmet to control air turbulence, to restrain rolling-in of uncomfortable wind below chin guard, to exhaust expiration from front slits using negative pressure, to let fresh air circulate always inside chin guard and to eliminate blocked feeling and moistures. It shall be inserted in a gap between shell and liner while it is removable.
Please advise performance and types of air mask.
It is a component to cover mouth, to prevent invasion of expiration inside of shield and prevent fogging of shield. "AIR MASK" is made of rubber and to be fixed to head directly by strap. Therefore, it may be used for many models.
For "AIR MASK 2", flat fastener is stuck to inside of helmet in mouth area by both sides sticky tape. Then, the component is adjusted by flat fastener so that it comes to close contact with face.
"AIR MASK 3" is in the same type as "AIR MASK 2" and used for X-Eleven and X-9.
